Loading Dock Equipment – Buyer FAQ

What loading bay equipment does LESHO supply?

LESHO's loading bay range on leshochina.com includes a 10-ton heavy-duty hydraulic dock leveler, edge manual dock leveler, loading dock shelter, automatic hydraulic vehicle restraint with LED safety lights, manual mechanical dock lock, and anti-collision traffic pillars and height-limit barriers.

What is a dock leveler?

A dock leveler is a bridging platform installed at the loading dock edge that compensates for height differences and gaps between the dock floor and a truck bed, so forklifts and pallet trucks can drive safely in and out. Types include hydraulic, mechanical and edge-of-dock levelers.

Hydraulic vs. edge-of-dock leveler: which to choose?

Hydraulic levelers (pit-mounted, push-button, with a hinged or telescopic lip) cover larger height differences and heavy, frequent traffic. Edge-of-dock levelers mount on the dock face, cost less, need no pit, and suit small height differences and lighter use. LESHO edge-of-dock (manual) leveler: about +100/−150 mm working range, 3,000 kg; hydraulic and telescopic-lip levelers cover pit-mounted duty with lip lengths in catalog up to about 0.5–1.2 m (telescopic) and platform lengths to 5 m.

What capacity dock leveler do I need?

Capacity should exceed the combined weight of the loaded forklift and load, with a margin for dynamic impact. Many sites specify 6–10 tons; heavy industry may need more. LESHO lists a 10-ton hydraulic dock leveler on the site; the 2020 catalog load tables cover about 6–14 t dynamic for hydraulic levelers and 6–15 t for telescopic-lip models (edge-of-dock 3,000 kg).

Which standard covers dock levelers?

In Europe, EN 1398 (Loading ramps – Safety requirements) covers dock levelers, including load testing, gradients and toe guards. In the US, ANSI MH30.1 is the common reference. Compliance documents for EN 1398 / ANSI MH30.1 are available from sales on request.

What does a dock shelter do?

A dock shelter is a fabric or foam structure around the dock door that seals the gap between the trailer and building during loading. It reduces heat loss, keeps out weather, dust and insects, and protects goods. It is especially important for cold chain and food logistics.

Why use a vehicle restraint?

A vehicle restraint locks the truck's rear impact guard to the dock so the trailer cannot drive away or creep forward during loading, a common cause of forklift accidents. LESHO offers automatic hydraulic restraints with LED signal lights and manual mechanical dock locks.

What information is needed for a dock project quote?

Share dock height, typical truck bed heights, door size, forklift weight and load, pit or no-pit construction, number of docks, climate and whether the dock serves cold storage. Contact LESHO at info@leshochina.com or +86-15851675955. Normal lead time 15–20 days; standard warranty 1 year.
